Meeting minutes 1/25/19

Financials: Lorena, treasurer Budget Update: See the financials sheet, if interested. We were over budget on the Art and Poetry event, as we purchased supplies that will be utilized for future events, but we are on track for our budget overall. With monies raised from this years events, the FTO will be making a $200 per classroom gift to the school at the end of the year.
Art and Poetry: The auction portion of the event netted $4000, food netted $1300. Goal is for Art and Poetry to self-fund in the future. Next year, we would appreciate more participation with cookie donations, please emphasize to parents that baked goods for school event should have NO NUTS. Please continue to encourage families to pay for the Fine Arts allotment if they haven’t already done so.
Service Learning: The FTO will be fully funding the Service Learning Projects for both 6th and 7th
Fundraisers: Box Tops: We received a check for $299.60 at the beginning of January. Thank you for participating! Keep sending them in, next deadline to submit is 2/28/19.
Smith’s: 10/01/18-12/31/18 earned $115.27- please share brochures with families in your class.
If you haven’t already enrolled your Smith’s card, please do so through your Smith’s online account. CWFS receives a portion of your spending at no cost to you!
Amazon Smile: When using Amazon, make sure you go the Amazon Smile website and designate CWFS as your place to benefit. A portion of what you spend comes right to the school.  You can shop on your regular Amazon account or the App and put things in your cart and then make sure to check out through Amazon Smile so CWFS gets the credit!
Caring Cents: You can enroll your credit cards in this program and each time you use your credit card, it will round up to the next dollar amount and that amount will be donated to the school. You can set a cap amount for each month so you only donate whatever amount you are comfortable with.
Yearbook 2018-2019: Jessica Holtey Full School Picture will be taken on 2/22/19, please send your children in a CWFS shirt or school colors (grey and navy). If anyone has access to an extremely large ladder, cherry picker, or fire truck ladder please contact the FTO!
Student Artwork: We are requesting students to draw their best coyote as a contribution to the yearbook. A sheet of paper has been sent home with all students, please ask them to fill the entire paper with their drawing of a coyote and return by Friday, March 8th.
Order Yearbooks: Yearbook committee has decided yearbooks will be purchased through The committee will put the books together online.  You will be able to customize 2 pages for your child’s yearbook, if you want to.  You can pay for more customized pages if you so desire.  The deadline to order is 03/27/2019.  FTO will not be ordering extra yearbooks to have in stock for anyone who does not order.  Please order your yearbooks online, as this is the only way you will get one!!!! More information to follow via email.
Kindergarten and Sibling Enrollment Liz will have enrollment cards soon. All parents with incoming kinders or siblings in other grades will need to see Liz to fill out enrollment cards. This is a change per APS- all kinders have to be enrolled before the end of the school year.
Service Learning Need 6th grade parents to help coordinate and transport students to Roadrunner Food Bank
7th graders- BEMP project- Friday, March 29th 8:15am-12:30pm. Transportation will be provided.
May need 7th grade parents to help transport to BEMP Fair on April 24th
Spring Event- Friday, April 26th 5-7 pm. Fitness and Wellness theme. Teahcers are coordinating class presentations- similar to last year.
FTO will be selling tickets for “small bites”. Think Costco sample size.
No food trucks for this event, we may have a parent providing hotdogs for purchase.
Will have a wellness-type passport with activities for kids to complete in order to win a prize.
Will also have food and fitness demonstrations
Upcoming Events: Saturday, January 26th needed dads to help move furniture in order to make room for our 13th We were able to move all furniture and resources in to the MPR
Friday, February 1st will be the school wide ALICE drill. ALICE stands for Alert, Lockdown, Inform, Counter, Evacuate, and will be implemented in the event of an emergency, including bomb threats and active shooters. Please discuss this drill with your child and reiterate the importance of following the teachers directions during an emergency. Videos to prepare your children for what they may hear during the drill can be found on the APS website.
Friday, February 22nd Tummy Ticklers hosted by Mr. Noah and Mr. Travis. A sign up will be sent out via email, we will be looking for 15 families to contribute one dozen treats for the sale, including gluten free options. Please NO NUTS.
Spring Break is March 11th-15th. The week prior to spring break will be collapsed days, Thursday and Friday there will be no school in lieu of parent teacher conferences.
FTO Board Next Year Begin recruiting for next year’s Rising Board- these parents will be on the board 2020-2021
Committees- please let your parents know there will be many opportunities to volunteer for individual events next year if they are unable to commit to serving in a year-long role. These include Art and Poetry, our spring and fall events, Service Learning, and many others.
